AIPNL VAI RECEBER GRANDES AERONAVES NA CIMEIRA DA ASEAN DE 2029. MINISTRO MANETELU APELA À COOPERAÇÃO DE TODAS AS PARTES*

*Díli, 28 de outubro de 2026* – O Ministro dos Transportes e Comunicações, Eng. Miguel Marques Gonçalves Manetelu, convocou uma reunião com a ANATL, a AACTL, a Waskita Karya, a PMC, a PMU e os consultores de supervisão para avaliar os progressos das obras do Aeroporto Internacional Presidente Nicolau Lobato, em Comoro, Díli.

A reunião estratégica, destinada a acelerar os progressos das infraestruturas do Aeroporto Internacional Presidente Nicolau Lobato, realizou-se nas instalações da ANATL, E.P., em Comoro, Díli.

O Ministro Manetelu afirmou que esta foi a primeira reunião realizada após a sua participação, a 15 de outubro de 2026, numa visita a Jacarta, acompanhado pelo Vice-Primeiro-Ministro, Ministro Coordenador dos Assuntos Económicos e Ministro do Turismo e Ambiente, Francisco Kalbuady Lay. Na ocasião, foi realizada uma reunião bilateral com o Governo da Indonésia, através do Ministro da Indústria da Indonésia, Rosan Perkasa Roeslani, atual CEO da Danantara.

Durante o encontro em Jacarta com o CEO da Danantara, o Ministro Manetelu solicitou o apoio daquela entidade, responsável pela gestão direta dos ativos das empresas estatais indonésias (BUMN), para ajudar a Waskita Karya a acelerar os trabalhos no terreno e garantir a conclusão das obras dentro dos prazos estabelecidos no contrato.

O Ministro Manetelu sublinhou que a conclusão do aeroporto em 2028 constituirá um motivo de grande orgulho para Timor-Leste, uma vez que o país acolherá a Cimeira da ASEAN de 2029. Nessa ocasião, grandes aeronaves aterrarão no Aeroporto Internacional Presidente Nicolau Lobato, em Comoro, incluindo aeronaves que transportem o Presidente dos Estados Unidos da América, Donald Trump, e o Presidente da Indonésia, Prabowo Subianto.

O Ministro acrescentou que este projeto representará também um motivo de orgulho para a Waskita Karya, enquanto empresa indonésia envolvida na execução desta infraestrutura estratégica.

Nesta ocasião, o Ministro Manetelu apelou a todas as entidades e parceiros envolvidos no projeto para reforçarem a cooperação e trabalharem em conjunto com um objetivo comum: concluir as obras com qualidade e dentro dos prazos estabelecidos.

A reunião teve como objetivo avaliar de perto o progresso da construção do aeroporto, acompanhar o cumprimento dos planos de trabalho e reforçar a coordenação entre os parceiros estratégicos, de modo a garantir a qualidade das obras e o cumprimento do calendário previsto.

AIPNL TO RECEIVE LARGE AIRCRAFT DURING THE 2029 ASEAN SUMMIT. MINISTER MANETELU CALLS FOR COOPERATION FROM ALL PARTIES*

*Dili, 28 October 2026* – The Minister of Transport and Communications, Eng. Miguel Marques Gonçalves Manetelu, convened a meeting with ANATL, AACTL, Waskita Karya, PMC, PMU and the supervisory consultants to review progress on the construction works at Presidente Nicolau Lobato International Airport in Comoro, Dili.

The strategic meeting, aimed at accelerating progress on the infrastructure development of Presidente Nicolau Lobato International Airport, was held at the ANATL, E.P. building in Comoro, Dili.

Minister Manetelu stated that this was the first meeting held following his participation in a visit to Jakarta on 15 October 2026, accompanied by the Deputy Prime Minister, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs and Minister of Tourism and Environment, Francisco Kalbuady Lay. During the visit, a bilateral meeting was held with the Government of Indonesia through Indonesia’s Minister of Industry, Rosan Perkasa Roeslani, the current CEO of Danantara.

During the recent meeting in Jakarta with Danantara’s CEO, Minister Manetelu requested support from the institution, which directly manages the assets of Indonesian state-owned enterprises (BUMN), to assist Waskita Karya in accelerating on-site construction activities and ensuring that the works are completed within the contractual deadlines.

Minister Manetelu emphasised that completing the airport in 2028 would be a source of great pride for Timor-Leste, as the country is scheduled to host the 2029 ASEAN Summit. During the summit, large aircraft will land at Presidente Nicolau Lobato International Airport in Comoro, including aircraft carrying the President of the United States, Donald Trump, and the President of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto.

The Minister added that the project would also be a source of pride for Waskita Karya, the Indonesian company participating in the implementation of this strategic infrastructure project.

On this occasion, Minister Manetelu called on all entities and partners involved in the project to strengthen cooperation and work together towards a common goal: completing the project to the required quality standards and within the established deadlines.

The meeting aimed to closely assess the progress of the airport construction works, monitor compliance with work plans and strengthen coordination among strategic partners to ensure construction quality and adherence to the planned schedule.
